Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure master data integrity in key systems, maintaining processes to support data quality across the organization.
  • Identify and address data quality issues by implementing error detection, correction, and process improvement strategies.
  • Maintain and enhance the quality of master data in key systems, working with functional data owners to document and support ongoing data integrity.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and data stewards to implement data strategies, policies, controls, and programs that ensure enterprise data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable.
  • Resolve data quality issues through effective error detection, correction, and process design strategies in collaboration with SMEs and data stewards.
  • Manage and analyze data initiatives, ensuring revisions align with internal and customer requirements while adhering to data standards.
  • Assist in data management, governance, and quality assurance for master data, ensuring integrity across financial systems and operations.
  • Partner with business and IT teams to align master data rules with application operations, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Support the application and implementation of data standards, coding structures, and replication guidelines to maintain data access and integrity.
  • Conduct data cleaning to remove outdated, unused, or duplicate data for improved management and quicker access.
  • Develop and implement strategies to translate business requirements into effective data warehouse designs, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Provide data consulting to support business and IT initiatives, improving client database systems.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

Technical Skills:

  • Master Data Management (MDM): Basic understanding of master data management principles and practices, including data governance, data quality, and data stewardship.
  • Database Proficiency: Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., SQL, MySQL) and the ability to write basic SQL queries
  • Financial Systems: Basic understanding of financial data structures, reporting requirements, and system integration within ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) platforms
  • Data Analysis: Experience with data analysis tools and techniques, including proficiency in Excel
  • Data Visualization: Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to create reports and dashboards
  • Statistical Analysis: Basic understanding of statistical methods and how to apply them to data analysis
  • Process Improvement: Experience with process mapping, control, and improvement methodologies to enhance data quality and integrity.

Soft Skills:

  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and focus on details when managing and analyzing data.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions for data quality issues.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze data trends and patterns to make informed decisions and recommendations
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT, finance, and business units, to achieve data integrity goals.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple data-related projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and alignment with business objectives.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and technologies while maintaining data integrity standards.

Experience:

  • Relevant Degree: In Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Analytics Professional, Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate, Tableau Desktop Specialist) considered an asset
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the transportation industry considered an asset
  • ERP Systems: Experience working with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems like SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Data Management Tools: Familiarity with data management and governance tools is a plus.
