Rail Yard Transload Operator

 As part of a family-owned group of companies the members of Seaboard Bulk Terminals work together as a unit filled with transportation enthusiasts on the road, on the ground and in the office. Join us today as we are currently hiring a Rail Yard Transload Operator - Level 3 based in Grande Prairie, AB.

All duties and responsibilities below are in no particular order as may be defined as per safe and efficient operational process

Rail Yard  Labourer/Transload Operator Level 3

-Requirements for but not limited to Rail Yard Transload Labourer Level 3

-answers directly to the Terminal Manager

- A positive attitude and the ability to work in a team environment  in a safety oriented atmosphere ,be able to follow JHA’s and SWP’s,be willing to take site specific and legislated training to comply with both company and government guidelines

- job requires physical lifting, bending, twisting  

-This Job requires working outside in the elements-can be hot-cold-wet-dark

-punctuality is a must

- a minimum of a class 5 licence with reliable transportation to and from work

-a mechanically inclined background is beneficial

-equipment operating experience considered an asset and beneficial

-will be working a regular 40 hour week  schedule with some weekends and call outs

-Once trained to SBT SafeWorkProcedure’s ,will be expected to work independently with minimal supervision if needed

-attend monthly safety meetings , and daily toolbox meetings

-bring any and all safety or job hazards concerns to the Terminal Manager as per JHA and Hazard I.D. documentation

-will be able to follow both written and oral directions and carry out tasks as described by Terminal Manager

-perform manual labour such as but not limited to housekeeping, cutting grass, shoveling, painting, general upkeep etc.

Learn and Implement Proper Procedures For:

-opening / closing rail cars

-opening and closing track/removing de rails/cleaning switches/blue flag/red flag requirements

-weigh in / out trucks

-fill out and complete scale tickets

-load dry bulk trucks from rail/unload dry bulk trucks in Fertilizer shed

-help drivers with offload at offsite customer locations

-load / unload fluid trucks-from tank farm /to tank farm

- help move rail cars

-assist in hooking up / rigging out boiler hoses

-operate various yard equipment such as but not limited to:rail car opener,hydraulic jacks,basic hand tools,hammers,pry bars, mowers,snow blower,weed whacker,water pump ,diesel and gas loader(pump)

-have a willingness to learn proper operating procedure of all railyard machinery including but not limited: front end loader,rail car mover,skidsteer etc
