Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Lead to spearhead the growth of our Western Canadian Operations. The ideal candidate will drive organic growth by securing new customer accounts, expanding existing ones, and maintaining strong relationships with key clients. This role requires a strategic mindset and the ability to collaborate across diverse product lines, including Chemical Liquid & Dry, Agricultural Dry, Food Grade Liquid & Dry, and more. Reporting to the VP, Business DEvelopment, this position can be based in Calgary or Edmonton, AB.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development:
- Lead growth initiatives across HDL’s diversified product lines, including Chemical Liquid & Dry, Agricultural Dry, Food Grade Liquid & Dry, Mining sector, rail transloading, and more.
- Develop and execute sales plans and growth strategies in collaboration with business leadership.
- Create and maintain a robust sales funnel, reviewing performance weekly/monthly against targets.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Develop and present compelling value propositions, including rate proposals, operating plans, and service commitments.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with key decision-makers at customer accounts.
- Address customer concerns related to service and ensure satisfaction.
- Operational Collaboration:
- Work closely with operating teams to manage capacity/demand and achieve revenue and profitability targets.
- Collaborate with the collections team and customers to ensure accounts receivable targets are met.
- Market Engagement:
- Represent the company at key industry events and forums.
- Gather market intelligence to help develop competitive strategies.
- Assist in commissioning new sales and onboarding processes.
- Strategic Contribution:
- Participate in business leadership meetings and contribute to strategic reviews.
- Support the budget planning process with actionable insights and data-driven input.
Job Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in a related field
- 5+ years of experience in business to business outside sales with a proven track record in a hunter role, focused on generating new business ad expanding market share
- Experience in Petroleum Industry required
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Proven ability to deal proactively and professionally with internal and external customers
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills required
- High level of motivation and energy
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required
- Willingness to travel
