Location:             Dartmouth, OR  Moncton

Status:                Perm, Full-time

Job Summary:

The Immigration Specialist is a key member of the Human Resources team, responsible for adjudicating and processing immigration applications and ensuring organizational compliance with immigration policies. This position requires a thorough understanding of programs such as the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), and applicable Federal Programs.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Subject Matter Expert for Seaboard and Armour (SATL)

·         Provides consultation and guidance to employees and internal stakeholders on matters related to the hiring of foreign nationals

·         Monitor changes in immigration laws and policies and update internal procedures accordingly.

·         Assists in educating all levels of the business on applicable active immigration programs and processes

·         Assists with creating processes, policies and procedures to streamline document intake, management, assessments, drafts, and submissions

 

Immigration File Evaluation and Decision-Making Process

·         Assess employees’ eligibility for different pathways to permanent residence

·         Prepare, submit, and track work permit and permanent residence applications under programs such as the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), or other immigration programs.

·         Maintains regular communication with clients being supported with immigration Services

·         Identifies and mitigates risk that may arise throughout the immigration process (from hire to permanent residency) and escalates concerns to HR Director - SATIL

 

Collaboration with Recruitment Team

·         Works collaboratively with the Recruitment Team when immigration related policies or procedures change that potentially effect SATL’s recruitment process

·         Maintains ongoing timely communication with recruitment related to permanent resident status of employees receiving immigration services and support

 

Build Strategic Partnerships in Immigration and Settlement

·         Stays up to date on all immigration programs, policies

and pathways available in Canada with a strong focus on Atlantic Canada, Alberta, Quebec, and Ontario immigration pathways (temporary and permanent)

·         Build relationships with government representatives, immigration consultants, and legal advisors to stay updated on best practices and regulatory changes.

·         Advocate for the organization's immigration-related needs

·         Keeps up-to-date and is knowledgeable on settlement programs and services for newcomers, events for newcomers, and shifting trends in newcomer arrivals and needs

 

Data Integrity and Documentation Management

·         Verify and prepare necessary supporting documents, such as employment contracts, LMIA exemptions, and job offer letters.

·         Generate and submit compliance reports required by immigration authorities.

·         Create templates and process documentation to standardize immigration-related activities.

·         Conduct periodic reviews and audits of immigration files to ensure accuracy and completeness.

 

Required Qualifications:

·         Post-secondary education: international business, business, social services, legal administration or related field

·         Registered Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) with active membership in good standing

 

Knowledge, Experience

·         Minimum 1 year working experience within immigration, employment law, government and/or settlement organization

·         Thorough understanding of all immigration programs, policies and pathways available in Canada with a focus on Atlantic Canada and Ontario. Programs include Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), and other applicable Federal Programs

·         Excellent organizational skills and accuracy for processing sensitive information

·         Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, in large volume, in a fast-paced environment with sometime conflicting priorities and needs
